7075 aviation aluminum plates are mainly used to manufacture aircraft structures and other high-stress structural parts while 7475 aviation aluminum plates are mainly used for aluminum-clad and non-aluminum-clad plates for fuselage, wing frames, stringers.

7050 aluminum plate is a high-strength heat-treatable alloy with extremely high strength, good mechanical properties and anodic reaction. It also exhibits excellent resistance to spalling corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.

7475 T7351 Aerospace aluminum Plate is a high-strength, high-hardness aviation-specific aluminum material. It is mainly used to manufacture key parts such as aircraft frames, skins, and landing gears.

Both 7075 and 7475 aviation aluminum plates belong to the 7 series aluminum alloy, which is a super-hard aluminum alloy in the aviation aluminum series and has good wear resistance, corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The following is a detailed comparison of the similarities, differences, uses and performance between the two.

Similarities
Alloying elements: Both 7075 and 7475 aviation aluminum plates contain zinc (Zn) and magnesium (Mg) as the main alloying elements. The MgZn2 structure formed by these elements has a significant strengthening effect, making both alloys characterized by high strength and high hardness.
Heat treatment properties: Both have good heat treatment properties, and their strength and hardness can be significantly improved through heat treatment.
Application fields: Both 7075 and 7475 aviation aluminum plates are widely used in the aviation field to manufacture aircraft structural parts and other parts requiring high strength.

Differences
Chemical Composition: While both contain zinc and magnesium, the exact amounts vary. The chemical composition range of 7075 aluminum alloy is wider, while the chemical composition of 7475 aluminum alloy has more specific control and usually also contains other alloying elements such as copper (Cu) to improve its overall performance.
Strength and toughness: 7075 aluminum alloy may be slightly inferior to 7475 aluminum alloy in strength, but 7475 aluminum alloy has better fracture toughness while maintaining high strength. This makes 7475 aluminum alloy more advantageous in certain application scenarios where both strength and toughness need to be considered.
Corrosion resistance: 7075 aluminum alloy has relatively poor corrosion resistance, while 7475 aluminum alloy has better corrosion resistance. This may be due to the addition of more alloying elements to the 7475 aluminum alloy, forming a denser oxide film, thereby improving its corrosion resistance.

Application
7075 aviation aluminum plate: mainly used to manufacture aircraft structures and other high-stress structural parts that require high strength and corrosion resistance, such as aircraft upper and lower wing wall panels, stringers, etc. In addition, it is also widely used in mold processing, mechanical equipment, tooling fixtures and other fields.
7475 aviation aluminum plate: mainly used for aluminum-clad and non-aluminum-clad plates for fuselage, wing frames, stringers, etc. and other parts that require both high strength and high fracture toughness.

Performance
7075 aviation aluminum plate:

Strength: tensile strength σb (MPa) ≥ 560, yield strength σp0.2 (MPa) ≥ 495.
Plasticity: The plasticity is good after solution treatment, and the strengthening effect of heat treatment is good.
Low temperature strength: good strength below 150℃.
Welding performance: Poor welding performance and tendency to stress corrosion cracking.
7475 aviation aluminum plate:

Strength and toughness: High strength and good fracture toughness.
Corrosion resistance: Has better corrosion resistance.
Other properties: Specific mechanical properties such as tensile strength, yield strength, etc. may vary depending on the specific state and processing method.
