RUSAL’s 2023 sales rebound after LME decides not to ban Russian metals

2022-11-22

RUSAL, a global leading aluminum supplier in Russia, said its sales for 2023 have rebounded after the London Metal Exchange (LME) decided not to impose a ban on the trading and storage of Russian metals in its system.

It was understood that RUSAL had already sold more than 76% of its 2023 primary aluminum and value-added production, exceeding the company’s initial forecasts.

In October, the LME issued a discussion paper on a potential ban on new Russian metals and subsequently announced on November 11 that it had decided not to impose a ban on Russian metals as a considerable number of buyers in the market were still planning to buy metals from Russia.
